Sydney Dance Company at Snape Maltings Concert Hall

Friday 18 November

The empty stage with a floor-to ceiling white gauze curtain, revealed little of the quality of the performance and staging that we were to experience at Snape Maltings Concert Hall when Sydney Dance Company brought the UK premiere of a double bill of works by Rafael Bonachela, to Suffolk.

Kit and the Widow, Snape Proms

Kit and the Widow at Snape Proms Friday 5 August 2011

“Rather rude but very funny” is probably the best description of the music and chat that comprises an evening with the outrageously camp, Kit and the Widow.

Poetry Proms

Poetry Proms 2011 at Snape Malting Concert Hall.

In her introduction to the Poetry Prom at Snape Maltings Concert Hall, Director Naomi Jaffa, said that the three poets that were to perform had been chosen for the quality of their work but also because of their differing styles, voice and subject matter. She added that she also loved the idea of an all-women line-up!

That they were very accomplished, yet very different, poets was certainly true, as the capacity audience was to discover.

Jazz Jamaica

“Jazz Jamaica” at Snape Proms, Snape Maltings Concert Hall, Sunday 14 August.

Imagine music that mixes ska and reggae sounds into classic and modern jazz, performed by eight Jamaican musicians and one vocalist. Add a packed Snape Proms audience on their feet and dancing, and you can get some idea of the terrific buzz that  filled Snape Maltings Concert Hall by the end of the performance by “Jazz Jamaica”.
